Safe Connections is one of the St. Louis region’s oldest and largest organizations working to prevent and end domestic and sexual violence while helping survivors thrive. Their award-winning, nationally-accredited programs reduce the impact and incidence of domestic and sexual violence through prevention education, crisis intervention and therapy. The Dana Brown Charitable Trust is proud to partner with Safe Connections to help them continue to fund these indispensable programs.
Safe Connections provides a number of different services to adult and teen survivors of domestic and sexual violence. They operate a 24-hour crisis helpline with trained staff and volunteers who are able to provide emotional support and help callers address immediate safety needs. The helpline staff can also help callers with referrals for therapy, medical care, legal aid, shelter and other essential services.
Recently, Safe Connections has been able to expand their crisis helpline to offer texting support in addition to the phone lines, a valuable resource that helps them reach additional individuals who might be in need of support from Safe Connections.
In addition to the crisis helplines, Safe Connections also offers individual and group counseling, where survivors can choose to meet 1-on-1 with a therapist and/or attend group therapy sessions.
Safe Connections also provides preventative programming for schools and juvenile centers, boys and girls clubs, and other locations where teens can find community resources and support.
All of the services provided by Safe Connections are done so at no cost to individuals, which is why funding and volunteers are so crucial to their mission. Community support helps Safe Connections continue to provide these services as well as expand into different service areas in order to serve even more individuals. Dana Brown Charitable Trust considers it an essential part of our founder’s mission to aid Safe Connections and other organizations working to improve the lives of our area’s youth.
